4. SMS and Text Message Communications

4.1 Overview

Omahji is a platform that enables mahjong instructors to communicate with their students and members via text message. When you receive an SMS from the Omahji platform, the message is being sent by your instructor using Omahji's messaging tools.

4.2 How SMS Consent Is Collected

SMS consent is collected separately from account registration. Providing a phone number to create or use an Omahji account does not constitute consent to receive text messages. Consent to receive SMS is not required to create an account, access classes, manage scheduling, or use any core features of the Service.

SMS consent is obtained through a distinct, optional opt-in action (such as an unchecked checkbox or toggle) presented separately from the Terms of Service and account creation process. Users must take an affirmative action to opt in to receiving text messages.

4.3 Types of Messages

Informational/Transactional Messages: These include class reminders, schedule updates, and event notifications.

4.4 Message Frequency and Rates

Message frequency varies depending on your instructor's activity and the types of messages you have opted in to receive. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

4.5 Message Frequency and Rates

You may revoke your consent to receive SMS messages at any time by any of the following methods:

  • Replying STOP to any text message received from the Omahji platform.
  • Updating your notification preferences in your profile settings, where you can independently disable text messaging.
  • Contacting us at mark@omahji.com to request removal from SMS communications.

For assistance with SMS messaging, reply HELP to any message or contact us at mark@omahji.com.

4.6 No Sharing of SMS Consent Data

Your opt-in consent for text messaging and the phone number associated with that consent will not be shared with or sold to any third parties for their own marketing purposes. SMS consent data is used solely to deliver messages through the Omahji platform on behalf of your instructor.

5. AI-Powered Features and Data Processing

Omahji uses artificial intelligence to provide features such as seating optimization and scheduling recommendations. To deliver these features:

  • We process player skill levels, preferences, and historical data to generate seating arrangements.
  • AI processing occurs on secure servers and is designed to protect your privacy.
  • We may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our AI models.
  • You retain control over your data and can request deletion at any time.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may also retain certain information as required by law, to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, unless required by law to retain it.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes data encryption in transit and at rest, regular security assessments, and access controls. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. These countries may have different data protection laws. When we transfer your information internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information, such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
