Omahji is a scheduling and membership management platform for Mahjong instructors. Instructors use Omahji to manage their classes, players, and game schedules. As a paid add-on feature, instructors can purchase SMS message packs to send text messages to their members through the Omahji platform.
SMS consent is collected separately from account creation and is never required to use the platform.
When a new member joins a Mahjong instructor's group through Omahji, they complete a registration form that collects their name, email, and phone number. The form includes two independent checkboxes:
"I consent to receive text messages from my Mahjong instructor via Omahji at the phone number provided, including class reminders, schedule updates, and event notifications. Frequency may vary. Msg & data rates may apply. Text HELP for assistance, reply STOP to opt out."
The SMS checkbox is unchecked by default. Members must take an affirmative action to opt in. A member can successfully create their account and access all platform features — including class scheduling, game booking, and membership management — without checking the SMS box.

Members who did not opt in during registration can enable SMS at any time from their Notification Preferences in their account settings. They can also disable it by toggling the switch to the off position.
When enabling SMS from settings, the disclosure text reads:
"Receive text messages from your Mahjong instructor via Omahji, including class reminders, schedule updates, and event notifications. Frequency may vary. Msg & data rates may apply. Text HELP for help, reply STOP to opt out."
All text messages sent through Omahji are set or initiated by the instructor. Instructors purchase message packs to send messages to their opted-in members. Message types include:
Members can revoke SMS consent at any time through any of the following methods:
Upon opting out, the member receives a one-time confirmation message and will no longer receive SMS from their instructor via Omahji unless they re-opt in.
SMS opt-in consent data and associated phone numbers are not shared with or sold to any third parties for their own marketing purposes. Consent data is used solely to deliver instructor-initiated messages through the Omahji platform.
